The Synthesis Simulator

Sprite de Synthesis Simulator - Space Station 14Synthesis Simulator

This machine is necessary for making your own custom chemicals.

To use this machine, you insert papers dispensed by the XRF Scanner and Research Data Terminal into it.

Any paper deemed "incomplete" will not be accepted. Incomplete papers include any chemical paper that does not have a recipe on it.

This means that special Hydroponics chemicals cannot be used in the synthesis simulator.

Making your own chemicals is not cheap, however. You will need to discover the properties of the chemicals and obtain credits using the XRF Scanner.

There are four modes on the synthesis simulator.

Amplify

This mode takes in a target paper, and allows you to increase a targeted property's potency by one, at the cost of lowering the overdose threshold of the new chemical by 5 units.

Suppress

This mode is the inverse of Amplify, taking in a target paper and decreasing a targeted property's potency by one.

If a targeted property's potency is reduced to zero, it is removed.

The cost of this is the same as Amplify, lowering the overdose threshold of the new chemical by 5 units.

Add

This mode is simple. It takes in a target paper and a reference paper, and puts the reference property and its potency onto the new chemical.

The cost of this is making the original reference chemical and every chemical derived from it completely unusable in any future simulation operations.

Relate

This mode takes in a target paper and a reference paper. You will need to pick a target property and a reference property.

Both of the properties have to be of equal potency. This will create a new chemical that is a duplicate of the target chemical but with the target property

swapped out for the reference property. This comes at the cost of lowering the overdose threshold of the new chemical by 5.

Override

This allows you to perform Addition and Relation using properties that conflict. Conflicting properties will be subtracted. For example,

Anticarcinogenic with a potency of 3 and Carcinogenic with a potency of 4 will conflict and the new chemical will have Carcinogenic with a potency of 1.
